Kick-A-Thon 2011 Fun Family Event!

Kick-A-Thon 2011

For 4KIDS of South Florida

UMAC has a long tradition of developing skills of both boys and girls. Our Family Program was designed to promote the benefits of martial arts to our families who wanted to share this great experience together.

Whether you gain flexibility, loss of weight or reduction in stress, these are just some of the side products you get all while learning the art of self-defense with your loved ones. Lastly, the enjoyment children get when working together with their parents toward common goals is priceless!

Students from United Martial Arts Center are expected to participate at their 3rd annual Kick-A-Thon charity event at 10 a.m. at UMAC, 7962 W. Sample Rd on Saturday, October 8 2011.

October 2009 UMAC students raised almost $1,500.00 for 4kids of South Florida.

October 2010 UMAC students raised  $3,274.00 for Autism Speaks- Broward county.

This year UMAC Team Fundraising Goal is : $5,000.00 :)

The martial arts participants will gather pledges based on their intent of completing 30,000 karate kicks during  three-hour timeframe. This charity event will have students ranging in age from 3 to 18, collect pledges of financial support to 4kids of South Florida.

On any given day in South Florida, there are three to four thousand “temporary orphans” in foster care.

Imagine how children must feel when they’re removed from their homes, often with nothing more than the clothes on their back and a garbage bag filled with whatever they were able to quickly pack. These children are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity and showered with love.

Through the support and participation of families, friends and students, UMAC was able to raise $3,033,00 for 4kids of South Florida. In spite of the rain; Children of all ages enjoyed the bounce house, arts and craft, food and more.

The event was attended by over 200 supporters. There were a total of 49 students who participated in the kicking segment of the event. With no rest, the students kicked for a straight fifteen minutes with passion, conviction, focus and tenacity for a total of 28,552 kicks!

We were indeed humbled and amazed by the contributions of each individual at the event.

Lastly and most important, it is noteworthy to point out the significance of this particular charity event.  The family, students, and friends of UMAC have collectively shown an act of kindness, an act of generosity and more importantly an act of love to those who are less fortunate.  Their efforts have impacted a community, and have stirred the hearts of others to make a positive difference.  UMAC wishes to express sincere thanks to everyone for their dedication, hard work, and sacrifices in making this charity event one to remember.
